How I Self-Healed My Depression

“Looking back, depression to me felt like my light was dimmed. To help heal myself, I needed to find my light — — which is who I am and my purpose.”

This is not a “how to fix yourself” guide. It’s just my truth. And if you see yourself in it — even a little — I hope you know there’s a way out.

Your light still exists.

And it’s waiting for you to come home.

My thoughts back then:

“I wanted love. I didn’t want to feel alone. Every day I felt empty. No one was there for me. I was broke all the time. I ate shitty food. I hated going to work. I was surrounded by drama at work and friends and I didn’t want to be around them so I isolated myself. I kept thinking why me? Why do I always have to struggle?”

(Root): I’ve been struggling and facing so many challenges alone since I was a kid, since I moved to a new country without anyone familiar with me. I’ve felt so alone.

It was always one thing after another which made me extremely unhappy. I wasn’t grateful because I only focused on what I didn’t have.

I believed no one cared about me. No one cared that I’m struggling. No one really listens. And I thought no one would care if I was gone. I was tired of living. I was exhausted of being sad, empty, alone and always struggling.

Something in me broke and I thought .. “Why am I even here?

It seemed like that opened something and I started getting pieces of the answer.

So how I healed myself:
  • Little by little, I started finding things that felt interesting to me.

  • Things I wanted to learn

  • It was like I was unlocking pieces of myself along the way

  • I followed my thoughts, my curiosity — which led me to my search for purpose

  • I felt hopeful hearing “pick a card” tarot readings. I felt like the Universe was talking to me

  • Then I learned tarot myself. The cards made me feel like something bigger could hear my thoughts. That I wasn’t alone

To me, depression was disconnection from my light

And healing was:

✨ Finding who I really am

✨ Remembering I have a reason to be here

✨ Believing I had something to create, share, and become

Once I felt that — even a glimmer — I moved.

I changed careers. I changed my habits. I made new decisions.

I had a reason to grow again. It started bringing my light back.

But healing wasn’t a one-time thing.

Sadness still came back sometimes. But I learned how to shift it:

🧠 MINDSET

I started paying attention to my thoughts —

what I was focusing on, what I was repeating.

And I began choosing different ones.

More loving. More hopeful. More empowering.

🌀 ENERGY

I learned how to shift my energy, not just my thoughts.

  • Meditating, even just for a few minutes

  • Guided visualizations that made me feel lighter

  • Listening to binaural beats or certain frequencies to regulate my emotions

  • Doing something that made me feel good again, even just for a moment

🌊 BODY

I got back into my body — because she always knew what I needed

  • Swimming

  • Going to the beach

  • Reading something inspiring

  • Simple self-care practices

Each one reminded me that I could create comfort and safety within myself.

🌱 GROWTH

When I was unhappy in an area of my life —

my job, my relationships, my habits, my finances —

I stopped tolerating it.

And I took action.

Aligned action gave me something to look forward to.

It gave me momentum.

And it helped me remember I could change things.

🖤 SHADOWS

For a long time, I avoided how I really felt.

  • I partied

  • I drank alcohol to numb how I felt

  • I worked too much

  • I stayed busy to stay numb

But eventually… I got tired of running.

And I started facing it. Feeling it all.

And then — alchemizing it. I turned my shadows into light.

To the version of me who was searching for the right tool…

The one who felt lost, heavy, and unsure of how to move forward —

I see you. I was you.

And to anyone reading this who resonates with that chapter of my life,

I created tools that could’ve helped me back then —

and are here to help you now:
